Progress continues in the revitalization of the Bone Student Center. This week, the first floor lobby and the new main entrance on the east side of the building opened, along with the exterior entrance to Barnes & Noble at Illinois State University. The exterior staircase and ramp to Milner Plaza will open in September.
The second phase of the project will be completed this fall, with the relocation of the catering kitchen to the first floor and the renovation of the catering kitchen freed up to accommodate the office of the dean of students. The campus community will continue to see updates to spaces within the Bone Student Center over the next year. Completion of the third phase of the revitalization is expected in spring 2020, which will include the opening of two new retail restaurants Timbers Grille and Star Ginger.
“We are excited to bring Redbirds more choice, flavor and dining experiences,” said Bill Legett, Director of Events Management, Catering and Hospitality (EMDH). “We hope the Bone Student Center will continue to meet the needs of students in a variety of ways, from study spaces and attendance opportunities to special events and unique dining options. We really want the Redbirds to take advantage of the Bone Student Center and see the building as a gateway to campus, welcoming everyone to Illinois State University.
