Ball State released the LA Pittenger Student Center’s full operations recovery plan on Monday, detailing the operation of the Student Center and its amenities during the summer and fall 2020 semesters.
Currently, the plan indicates that access to the student center building is limited to the first floor and basement for services provided in these areas. Access to the building is only through the north and south doors and access to the building will remain restricted until July.
It says the student center will proceed with a phased reopening of the building as faculty, staff and students return to campus. Hours of operation reflect the phased approach to back-to-school on campus with up-to-date hours of operation provided on its website.
Face masks and shields will be required per Ball State guidelines, the plan says. Face masks will be mandatory in the student center as it is an indoor space where physical distancing is not always possible.
It will follow recommended guidelines for disinfecting procedures for surfaces and electronic equipment and will post signs for physical distancing procedures and proper hand washing procedures.

The student center’s reservations office will follow the guidelines set out in the Event Management and Community Engagement Guide for hosting events in the building, the plan says.
The center will accept reservations for groups under physical distancing protocols, including room and space occupancy limits, it says. Set-up time between all events will increase to allow for proper cleaning and disinfection, with some spaces only able to accommodate one or two events per day.
Indoor spaces will be prioritized for approved events and cannot be hosted virtually or online. The plan encourages meetings to be held by videoconference or telephone whenever possible. It also encourages event organizers to reserve and use outdoor spaces as much as possible and for as long as the weather permits.
